Your explanation sounds much more logical than many I have read (out of hundreds!). Unfortunately, I know enough CSS to be dangerous. I previously was a database engineer, but I have been doing SEO consulting for the past 15 years. I am a mad woman when it comes to achieving #1 organic rankings in Google search results, but I have a lot of difficulty with seemingly simple CSS tasks.
My dilemma is that I am developing a Shopify store for a client and have spent not less than 8-10 hours trying to find a solution to a simple one row, five-column layout to their responsive theme (Minimal). It is a very nice theme and works well for everything except this one challenge. I found another tutorial written by someone else, and it works perfectly across the grid and is very straightforward; however, several hours (more) later of reading dozens more tips and tutorials, I cannot get the row to center on the grid.
The two issues are: (1) In Mobile Portrait view, the responsive row aligns too far to the RIGHT; and (2) in desktop view, it aligns too far to the LEFT.
I am out of my comfort zone and will appreciate any guidance you can offer. By the way, I only signed onto Github to pick up some code on a tutorial that did not work in the end. If you can respond to me at: seoconsultants [at] earthlink [dot] net, I will appreciate it.
Thanks very much, and let me know if I can offer anything in return (that does not involve CSS :)
Laura
