Why do I need Rust to pip install autobahn? #1656

I have python 3.6, which is the newest available on RHEL 8. When I try to pip install Autobahn, I now get the following:
Two questions:
Thank you. UPDATE: I worked backwards and I find that I can install 18.12.1, but I would prefer to use the latest version obviously. |

Important libraries in Python such as Cryptography now depend on Rust. So there's not a lot Autobahn developers can do about this -- I would ask in more general Python forum such as |

the latest version requires Cryptography, which requires Rust - so you are on your own unfort. btw: what's the respective IBM zOS bug for lack of Rust ? a link might help others save time. apart from that, quick digging turned up a container image that claims Rust (on s360, but under Linux, not Aix) |

Yeah that is linux on mainframe. Thanks for the mention. I saw some stuff too, but not from official sources. I cannot really consider anything from unofficial sources. Also, now I'm curious because the latest repository does seem to have rust-setuptools... So maybe that's promising? |
