We require version 20.10 (API 1.40) or later.

Can you post the output of docker buildx ls? For example, for me, we get the following:

the behaviour of docker buildx ls is mentioned on abiosoft/colima#165, but seems for them they got it working.

I might try to see if I can get this working with colima, it might be slightly different since I'll be working on WSL2 rather than native Linux, but we'll see.

Ok, colima, as expected, uses the nerdctl backend, which does not support the buildx command. However, nerdctl fully supports buildkit as described here, just not the buildx command. We should be able to just add an environment variable to support this, such as CROSS_NO_BUILDX.
