Upcoming MySQL 8.0 end of life and transition to MySQL 8.4?

The official end of life date for MySQL 8.0 is coming up in April 2026. I believe for Amazon RDS this will be a bit longer in 31st July 2026

Will there be a transition plan for existing RDS databases that are running MySQL 8.0 to be migrated to 8.4?

Craft Cloud uses Aurora MySQL version 3, which is based on MySQL 8.0 and will be supported until April 2028 (ignoring extended support).

They haven’t announced a MySQL 8.4-compatible version of Aurora (presumably Aurora MySQL version 4), yet.

Ah OK, well that's good news then! I forgot Amazon RDS uses Aurora MySQL, which isn't quite the same.

No need to rush that one then!
