Randonauting is a newish trend where users are told to go to a random latitude/longitude. Adventure ensues.

Not sure it is a good idea, but how about adding a dice icon in the upper-right of Nearby that would send you to a random point?

Actually not totally random and only a bit supernatural. It would send you to a place that has no Commons pictures around, for instance one of the areas I circled in red in these maps of Commons pictures:

While having pictures of notable points of interest is great, having a uniform coverage of the world's landscapes is also important. See http://www.confluence.org for examples of such pictures.
