I really love this tool and all the hard work everyone has placed into CodeProject AI, and find the license plate module especially useful but at the same time I'm growing really frustrated with it. Despite endless hours attempting to get the license plate module to use ANY GPU I can get my hands on, I continue to run up against a wall and default back to my old POS i7-8700 running the module on CPU -- BADLY. Best case, it gets one out of ten plates and takes 10-15 seconds to process enough images to successfully read.
Understanding my setup is a big unique as most of my "compute" is run off an enterprise server chassis which does not have any GPU power provisions so I purchased a pair of Nvidia Tesla P4 70 watt GPUs that can run of bus power. These apparently have the v6.1 compute, which for some reason isn't compatible with the license plate module, despite it detecting there is a GPU, when it goes to start I simply receive:
00:16:06:ALPR: GPU support
00:16:06:ALPR: CUDA (NVIDIA) Present: Yes (CUDA 11.7, cuDNN 8.5.0)
00:20:48:GPU Libraries: not installed
00:20:48:GPU: do not use
Failing every single attempt to get this working on my server, I've also grabbed multiple different versions of CPAI and installed on my desktop, but alas, still cannot under any circumstance get it to run license plate module on GPU..... with an RTX3090. One of the 10 different installs looked promising, it finally showed "GPU(CUDA)" next to the module, but the second it tried to process something CPAI crashed and restarted.
I read recently someone is supposedly writing a new license plate module which should hopefully be out soon? Will this finally be the answer to my dreams?? Not really sure what else to do at this point.
