Ben Reed

I'm a Software Engineer with full-stack experience. I've worked on everything from Rails Apps to Google's Search Results Page. I'm passionate about applications, frameworks, distributed systems, NLP and IR.

My wife, our 2 dogs, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can probably find me at SF Meetups.

Experience

  • Google (SWE, 2019-2025): worked in Search, Research and Cloud.
    • Built and maintained the frameworks behind the look, feel, and performance of the Search results page.
    • Developed distributed systems to validate medical data pipelines.
    • Tested Google’s networks and gRPC performance on Kubernetes.
  • Texas Instruments (intern): built tools to monitor long-running simulations.
  • IBM (intern): integrated de-identification / pseudonymization into big data pipelines.
  • Faithlife (intern): optimized embedded scripts across the web & removed a problematic ORM from one of their core services.
