Battery specs range

We know that ESP32 DIV v2 had a battery connector, but how can we be sure that our assessable battery won't damage the device? The most common lithium battery suited for ESP32 is 3.7v and the capabilities in mah related to how long the battery will last, right ?. I once developed a ble jammer by myself, and i have to admit that i wont have much knowledge and i didn't really know i was doing. but it works well only if plugged in the usb c port. I guess that is because of the nrf2401 pa transreciver power consumption but i dont know for sure till today hahah. That been said, how do you guy suited the right battery for the ESP32 DIV v2 ?
