manual to library without loosing history

I have configured a manual virtual sensor for a pretty long time collecting light appliance energy.
Now, I would like to use the library to add self-consumption on top.

Is there a known transition path to avoid losing LTS of measurements?

When the entity_id stays the same I'm pretty sure LTS would continue.

So maybe you could create the new entry.
Rename old entity-ids to _old.
And then rename the new entry entity_id's to the right one.

Before you do any changes of course make a backup.

Alternative approach would be to modify config/.storage/core.config_entries.
Under data attribute on the JSON the config entry configuration is saved.
When you create a new one using library, you can see how the JSON needs to be structures, and you can apply similar configuration to the original config entry.
But ofcourse this is a very technical and error prone solution :-)
But in this case you'll know for sure the entities will stay te same, only the way they are calculated will change under the hood.

Yeah, I am afraid that some other identifiers will change (unique_id, this hash identifier, etc) causing more trouble. But I will try.
