{skytrackr} is limited in part by the speed of {skylight}, converting to the original (or updated) Fortran compiled data might gain some speed.

Convert code to Fortran
Benchmark both original and Fortran version

Code is not on parity output wise, need to find code differences as well as address speed issues (frequent low speed outliers)
