Steps To Reproduce

  1. Go to password generator policy
  2. In section Passphrase, set Minimum number of words to 4+
  3. Click on Save
  4. Go to password generator
  5. (In section Password type, select Passphrase)
  6. In section Number of words, click on
  7. Click on Regenerate password

Expected Result

  • Step 5 shouldn't decrease number of words below policy
  • Step 6 shouldn't generate number of words below policy

Actual Result

  • Step 5 decreases number of words below policy (in Firefox, Brave & Safari)
  • Step 6 generates number of words below policy (in Firefox)

Additional Context

The result of step 6 is of course more critical than that of step 5. The latter should also be fixable, though - as it works as expected regarding password length.

Side note:
When the generator's Password type is set to PassWORD, the Minimum password length is shown.
When the generator's Password type is set to PassPHRASE, the Minimum number of words is NOT shown.

Issue Tracking Info

  • I understand that work is tracked outside of Github. A PR will be linked to this issue should one be opened to address it, but Bitwarden doesn't use fields like "assigned", "milestone", or "project" to track progress.
