Steps To Reproduce

  1. Keep in mind the guide here -> https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/25966860846231-Security-Keys-Passkeys-and-Passwordless-Login-on-Discord
  2. Follow the instructions in the "How to Register Passkeys (Desktop/Browser)" and "Passwordless Login with Passkeys" sections of the article

Expected Result

Log in with Discord's passkey from the Bitwarden vault

Actual Result

"No passkeys found for this application"

Screenshots or Videos

No response

Additional Context

The passkey from Bitwarden only works if I provide the username and password and then I use it as a form of 2FA authentication.
Passkeys from Windows Hello and Google Password Manager work just fine using the "Or sign with a passkey" on the main page.

Issue Tracking Info

  • I understand that work is tracked outside of Github. A PR will be linked to this issue should one be opened to address it, but Bitwarden doesn't use fields like "assigned", "milestone", or "project" to track progress.

Hi @dfunkt

Thank you for reaching out!

This stems from Discord not supporting virtual security keys. It mentions here in the article that you have sent :

While Security Keys function similarly to passkeys, they generally cannot be used for one-step login on Discord. Fear not! You’ll still be able to use Security Keys as a form of MFA - when you log in, you’ll get an additional challenge after entering your username and password to use you security key

The reason you are able to login using Microsoft Hello and Apple Passwords - is because they do not necessarily support “virtual security keys” and so they fall back on generating passkeys instead which allows you to use one-step login on Discord.

I hope this is clear and helpful.

The issue here will be closed.
