Having issues getting started and installing/running the API

Hi there!
I'm a dispatcher for BCWS but have some programming experience, and was looking to start contributing to the predictive services unit. I've met with Nicolas and he has suggested some small feature requests that I can work on. I'm having a bit of trouble setting up, and have tried both methods in the Getting Started / Installing on the Readme. Wondering if anyone can help me through it?

First method:

• it seems like I need to edit the .env that I create using .env.example ? it was noted in one of the Readme docs saying "contact maintainers for current settings".
• what folder does the .env.docker need to be in? It says api/app but I don't see that directory, I was trying it in web/apps/wps-web/src/app, but not sure if this is correct

Second method:

• dev container using vscode, the mount config said it was invalid and I couldn't select a .yml file when opening in remote container. Also I could not find docker-compose.vscode.yml, only docker-compose.yml.

If anyone could give me some quick tips that would be wonderful!

Hi @zoehallman ! Yes that's correct, your .env copied from the sample one needs to be adjusted with the proper configuration. The entries in the sample are just placeholders. Reach out to us on Teams or email and we can help you with that.

.env.docker and the devcontainer methods have been unmaintained for quite some time so it will be easier to stick with the first method. Actually it would be nice if you had time/cycles to help us get that working again!
