Display a toast notification (or something else) when mentioned in a channel.

  • Still not 100% sold on this idea
  • Might want to make it a preference

Would this be too invasive?

Edited: Sorry for the inconvenience. I thought this was the issue for OS wide notifications.

I think that the app should do something like discord which plays a sound when the user is mentioned in a server. And in order to indicate that there are unread messages in a server, discord shows a white indicator near the sever icon.

For iridium, the mail-unread icon could be shown near the channel's name and for display a counter for the unread messages in which the user is mentioned. And maybe, play a sound like discord too.

Notifications even when the app is closed isn't currently possible since closing the app terminates all connections. I'd like to change that in the future but I don't currently have that work planned. I think there's an issue created somewhere for it?
