Avalon 7.7.2 Release

7.7.2 is a small patch release to 7.7.1 that includes two fixes: one for Ramp that fixes track information for "Add to playlist" (samvera-labs/ramp#478), and one to fix an issue with thumbnail creation (#5775). Other things that have been merged into develop shouldn't come over to staging for inclusion in 7.7.2.

  • Add to playlist button disabled on iPhone Safari until user plays media item #5785
• Merge develop into staging to get new Ramp release tag
• Merge staging into main

• Testing (after merge to staging)

Documentation

• Update Known Issues documentation page
• Update configuration documentation (no config changes)
• Update current version number on the documentation wiki
• Update wiki with release notes (once the release is published on Github)
• Create and Write Upgrade Page (7.7.1 -> 7.7.2)

Release and Documentation

• Write a draft of release notes on Github
• Publish release in Github (create tag as well, if the release is not already tagged) https://github.com/avalonmediasystem/avalon/releases
• put link in release notes to Github-provided changelog (i.e. v.7.7.1...v7.7.2)
• Build and push updated docker images (may already happen via bamboo CI process)
• Update avalon-docker to point at new release docker tag and github tag
• Rebuild develop from main (our git flow)
• Deploy release to demo.avalonmediasystem.org

Website and Outreach

• Publish blog post announcing the release
• Update homepage with blog post for release announcement
• Update homepage with the updated version and documentation links
• Send announcement email to Samvera community mailing lists
• Send announcement to avalon-l mailing list
• Publicize in appropriate Slack channels
