Support GitHub topics

Please consider adding support for GitHub topics.

Don't mix them with user's tags, as they're something different.
Topics are like creators' tags, so they should remain being discernible from user's own tags.

It's so regrettable that GitHub's stars page (https://github.com/stars) is so limited.
It not only lacks filtering by topics, it even doesn't show them.

Fixing these things via Astral will be a great UX improvement.

Can you go into detail about how you imagine using topics within Astral? Where do you expect to see them?

In the nutshell, the same way as tags. I insist to keep them separate, because they're origin is different. And creators sometimes add more topics (or change existing ones) when projects evolve, so it's not a one-time import, but should be updated from time to time.

I would expand Stars sections and add:
* Stars without topics
These are the ones most likely requiring some tagging, as not even creators provided topics for them.

I would make Tags section collapsible and would add another collapsible section after it called Topics. Topics of course wouldn't be editable by users.

(I would make Languages section also collapsible.)

In project list below search bar I would display topics for each project below its language and tags. I would use yet different color for them, for instance light blue (which GitHub itself uses for them).

I think that many users would welcome support for topics, but some may be against additional information that wasn't shown before, so for them you could consider also option of hiding topics at all.

The bottomline is to reuse already existing "tagging done by creators", which for many users would be good enough.

I experimented including topic tags a while back, and while I can see the usefulness, I remember there were a ton of topics, many which were slight variations of each other.

I'd be interested in using topics to create some form of smart tags or filters.

ie. My astral tag kubernetes could include topics that match any of:

• kubernetes* (because of topics such as kubernetes-cluster.
• k8s*
• k3s*
• helm

I could probably add this to the custom filters - I'm hoping including the topics on every star doesn't increase the response time too much.

Has there been any progress on this feature? I'm eager to use it as well!
