redis-spring-app

This guide is designed to test redis service hosted on pivotal cloud foundry using an app hosted outside the platform. Simple spring boot app that connects to a redis service and display a Hello from Redis! message

Requirments

  • Pivotal cloud foundry installed with redis
  • Bosh deployed vm in same network as PCF or services network.

Deploying a bosh vm

Install required software on vm

  • sudo apt-get update
  • sudo apt install git
  • sudo apt install default-jre
  • sudo apt install default-jdk
  • apt-get install redis-tools

Create Service key for redis from cf cli

  • cf create-service-key test-key
  • cf service-key test-key
arulv$cf service-key redis-cache test

Test redis connection from bosh deployed vms using redis cli

Compile and run spring boot app

  • Download the app to bosh vm and edit src/main/resources/application.yml to use redis vm ip and service key
  • On demand redis vm ip can be fetched from bosh vms output
