I feel stupid. I was using a USB to USB-c cable. It works with a USB to USB adaptor but not the cable/// |

I have fiddled with this long enough I just have to ask... sorry
Hottop kn-8828b-2k+
It connects to a Macbook I borrowed to trouble shoot this.
So it's not the cable or the roaster.
I installed latest artisan and com port driver.
I connect roaster (USB to USB-C but I can't see how that would matter) and then open Artisan and Config>Machine>Hottop kn-8828b-2k+ and then click start and just get "Hottop disconnected" in upper left. That approach worked on the MacBook.
My laptop is a Win11 computer and did not show ANY com ports (lenovo x12) so I went to device manager>Action>add legacy hardware>Ports (COM & LPT) and added COM3.
I tried both USB-c ports on my machine.
They both work for other devices.
I think this is probably related to the com3 but I cannot find any further clues. I think windows is using a driver of its choosing for that.
Any help appreciated.
Best!
