Upcoming 2.0.0 release and 1.x branch

As we're working towards supporting Jakarta EE 10, I'd like to propose a rough plan for the next release. Since it's a major change from javax.* to jakarta.* api, it warrants a major version bump to distinguish from the previous javax-api-based versions.

To continue support javax-based use cases, I plan to create a 1.x branch to keep such maintenance work.

Some cleanup and version upgrades can benefit both branches (master and 1.x), and ideally should be merged before the branch split, such as

• bumps from dependabot, like junit
• upgrade arquillian-core to 1.7.0.Final
• upgrade jboss-parent from 24 to 39
• fix use of deprecated api
• enable github action CI

Comments and feedback are welcome.

We've fixed quite a few issues and added more improvements lately. Anything else need to go into the next release?

2.0.0 has just been released:
