Flush output from save()

I've searched the documentation and I don't think there's a way to flush the output after calling save to save a figure to file. This would be useful when using matplotplusplus to create plots which are displayed by another library - in my case I want to generate image files of plots which I display in a wxWidgets app. At the moment I have to just sleep the program to ensure the file has been fully created otherwise I get an error when reading the file.
