I recently was using the app in the "features near you" mode (the tree icon in the bottom), and noticed a shop that wasn't present in the map, so I added it. The app allowed me to select an amenity=* tag when I clicked the + button. Only a few minutes later I noticed that this amenity was actually duplicated: it already existed in the map, but was not visible in the nearby features mode. Fortunately I had not yet uploaded the changes, so I was able to delete the pending edit before it was uploaded. But it would have been better if the app either warned me that I was trying to add an amenity/POI in nearby features mode, or simply filtered out such tags out of the list of possible tags to pick.
Alternatively, there could be an "all-in-one" mode combining the Features and the Amenities modes, where all of these would be visible in the map, so that one wouldn't even need to go into the "add" screen to get warned that the entity may already exist.
