I really don't think that we should turn the user's profile into their points dashboard. These settings should really all be removed from there. A points dashboard should either be a separate admin screen, or something on the front-end. (See this suggestion.)
The steps to getting that done would be:
- Provide another way for admins to edit user's points (Easier way to edit users' points #48)
- Provide an alternative points dashboard.
These could really be done in either order. As each of them is completed we could add a link from the user profile to the new location on legacy sites.
I'd considered making each of these into premium modules, but if we want to completely do away with the existing stuff, I don't think that is a good idea. At least not for the editing of users points. Really, we could stop displaying the info there for average users without causing too much trouble, since admins can already display this kind of information to users on the front-end of the site using shortcodes and widgets. The only issue is that if users were using that to check their points info before, we wouldn't be able to provide them a link to the new location on legacy sites.
