Is it actually possible have HA poll the Solaredge inverter (SE8K) every second, or will it eventually choke the device?

It should work, but if it doesn't you can just increase the time.

It won't poll every clock second. It will be X seconds after the last successful poll is completed. So if it takes 2 seconds to run a complete cycle, the next poll will be 1 second after that.

mine hanged with 5 seconds. Not sure if it was the inverter or the meters. What is a safe timing? The default 5 minutes can be lowered?

Have you lowerd the polling frequentie? Did you just adjust that or did you also checked the option 'keep the Modbus open'?

I am at 4 seconds poll without keep the modbus open and it is working with 2 inverters

That's so strange. When i put it at 60 sec it crashed... How do you update the settings? Do i have to stop the integration,...?

@ivangabriel2-coder no, I use the setting button without stopping the integration. Maybe you need to restart your inverter?

I tried everything, but when i change the settings lower then 300 my devices go to unavailable

Pretty much the lowest I was able to get fairly stable was 30s. It still blips in my logs a couple times per day.
