Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I open Steam client, but the icon on the dock just appears during the loading screen and disappears after that. I need to close the main window and open the window again using systray, so the icon appears on the dock correctly.

It should open and keep the icon on the dock during the time Steam is open and just disappear when closing the window.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Click on the Steam icon on the activities screen.
  2. See the icon appears for a short time during the load screen and disappears after.

@kisak-valve I'm using Gnome Shell, the default for Ubuntu.

When I start Steam and I have two windows, the main window and that smaller window with news, I need to close both so I can click in the systray and then open again the main windows with logo in the dock.

After that, the icon disappears:

After I close the window with the "X" I went to icon in the systray and used the menu to re-open the screen. Now the icon appears in the dock:

Hi, I have the same issue.
Latest Ubuntu, Gnome 46 as of now.
You don't necessarily have to close and re-open Steam for it to appear, I usually just fire up my Firefox from the dock and I assume that "refreshes" the dock and the Steam icon appears.

Worth noting that this does only happen with Steam, no other app.
