Your system information

  • System information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) in a gist: Debian stable 12.7 with latest updates, ryzen 5 5600, polaris GPU RX500 series
  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes/No] ofc checked

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. Please link any large pastes as a Github Gist.
Launch cs2, play match with 100-150fps at 1920x1080. But after new patch 4.5gb my fps drops to 70-95.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Launch steam
  2. Launch cs2
  3. Play match
  4. Enjoy massive fps drops
  5. Farewell

Might be an issue on both Windows and Linux. Did you play on low settings before? the skin/battlepass update broke graphics settings so some things are forced to "high" now, even when "low" is selected. I've also seen others report issues with fullscreen-windowed being broken.

I've gotten about a 10-20% loss of performance on win10 and arch, 1024x768 res. sysinfo.
edit: I can confirm that the model/texture setting no longer works and always forces "high" - I suspect that the fps hit would be more severe on higher resolutions, I am GPU-bound.

I have the same issue on Pop! OS 22.04 ever since the new update.

I'm using RTX 3070 with i7-11800H and the fps would frequently drop to the 50's or 60's after around 5-10mins of play. My
settings are a mix of low/medium but even on full ultra settings i would never drop below 140fps before unless i was in watery areas of overpass/ancient/anubis. I have a feeling vulkan is acting up as i barely see any threads from fellow windows users regarding the huge dips in fps.

I have to say, my fps in online dm is shockingly bad now. actually having more than 5 players in the server now is probably a factor but the network performance is also rough. and yes, I was just playing with my router's dynamic QoS disabled.

as for FPS, on Win10 I'm averaging about 120-130 fps, 1% = 70-90 on nuke now, down from 200-220/110-130 fps before. number of players in server seems to have a massive impact on perf, though it did seem to get worse the longer I played - 25 minutes was all I could tolerate tonight.

edit: just played 5 minutes of dm on cs_italy on linux, avg. fps = 122.9, P1=66.2 with only a few players in server.
6 minutes on dust2 = 133 avg. fps

so in my case win/linux performance is roughly equally terrible while playing online deathmatch now.

I always play at low preset with disabled fidelity_fx. Recently valve broke cs2 on linux system (game crash at menu when press tab, when alt+tabbing, drop players, massive fps drop). After few weeks they fix it. But again they broke game with new big patch patch. Even at 1024x768 i got now 90-160 fps instead of 280-320fps. At 1920x1080 now i got shitty average 85fps with double increased frame time and its total unplayable at this resolution. They broke game almost with every patch. Qualified developers first test the patch, and if there are no problems with it, it can be used for the official release. Also, I don't want to waste my CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, LAN resources on any skins and stickers. Make an optimal performance mode that only uses standard models when turned on.

Tonight on Linux I'm getting 135 fps avg. and P1=80-90fps on italy, overpass and vertigo FFA DM.
Win10 I got another crash, eventually getting 170 avg on dust2.
there might have been an update but models/textures setting still does nothing and fps is still down overall.
