Two finger scrolling only works immediately after setting up the server and client and opening Firefox. As soon as I switch tabs, two-finger scrolling doesn't work anymore.

I tried this today and could not reproduce it.

  • Ubuntu-22.04
  • remote-touchpad 1.2.1
  • Mozilla Firefox 102.0.1

This seems safe to close.

I've also reproduced this on occasion.

Few observations:

  • It can occur after entering and exiting a video in full-screen.
  • I've found that it can impact some sites more than others. For example, I'm always able to scroll on https://www.netflix.com/browse but I can navigate back to a problematic webpage and break it again in the session
  • Restarting Firefox on the desktop will allow you to scroll until you hit the issue again
  • You can sometimes coax it into working again from the webclient side by starting a single finger scroll and introducing another finger half way (I'm aware of how weird this sounds)

Please let us know if there are any logs we can provide

Server: Fedora 39 (remote-touchpad 1.4.3 + Firefox 121.0.1)
Client: Pixel 7, Android 14, Firefox

The problem only seems to affect Firefox in combination with the remote desktop portal. I can't reproduce the issue with X11, uinput or other web browsers. It only happens on a few websites.

@Vikingtons Scrolling once on the page with a mouse/touchpad connected to the computer also fixes it until reloading the page.

I don't think this is our bug.

I wonder what the affected sites might have in common. Perhaps I could create a filter via ublock origin on the desktop.

Could just be a random portal quirk I suppose.
