I mount /var/log/ to tmpfs to reduce writing & for privacy reason. When I reboot the Debian, /var/log/ will become empty (because of tmpfs).
And your software simply fail to start like this:
usbguard-daemon[2238849]: AuditFileSink: /var/log/usbguard/usbguard-audit.log: failed to open
....
usbguard.service: Scheduled restart job, restart counter is at 5.
usbguard-dbus.service: Failed with result 'start-limit-hit'.
Steps
- Mount /var/log/ as tmpfs (OR, simply
rm -r /var/log/usbguard/)
- Run
service usbguard restart
Expected result
Start as normal
Actual result
Fail to start
