I put the new gpg key in /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d instead of /usr/share/keyrings

Is that okay? my ocd like to be able to see all keys when i do apt-key list

It is actually preferred to put them in /etc/apt/keyrings/ sources.list(5). Furthermore it should also be said that the sources.list files are gonna go away in the future and deb822.sources will be the default. With the repository in mind you could either use one of those two variants. With trixie there will also be a "signed-by" requirement (at least for deb822.sources files for now) so you won't get around that anyhow.
