Set enviroment variables on TerriaMap server init phase.

I am using TerriaMap solution and deploy it on K8 with helm chart for configuration.
My Q - what is the best way to load enviroment variables - set by helm chart on the container linux machine - on TerriaMap server startup (part on the initialization phase of the application)?
