Donation Page Accurate? #8984
Comments
Hi. Nothing has changed. The linked donation pages are fine, and anyone who donates is most welcome. |
@opusforlife2 We were planning to remove te Bitcoin and Bountysource page as requested by schabi |
Hi, I tried to find out how the money is actually distributed among the developers, but was unable to find any mentions regarding this. The only thing I found was on Liberapay that all the donations go to the user theScrabi (who used to maintain this project and had last committed to this repo in 2019). Does that mean that other maintainers of this project does not receive any of these donations? |
Also a good question! |
That's a legitimate question which I'll be happy to answer. The money is collected by theScrabi at the moment. He is the original developer and former maintainer of NewPipe. |

What is/are your question(s)?
Is the donation page still up-to-date?
I recently renewed my recurring donation to NewPioe (because it I use it so frequently to avoid Big GOOG associating a video into my recommendation feeds :D)
however when I set it up by using the Liberapay on the homepage I never bother to read the profile. I did today and associated page is for the person TheScrabi and on it itsays he used to work on development of Newpipe.
I searched and issue #2732 seems to indicate that indeed he doesn't really work on it and that the money doesn't appear to help the project.
Apparently there was a proposal for some supposed to be some Stiftung/Verein or whatever established. I didn't get into the weeds. I just want to make sure if my next renewal should be retargeted so that it goes into the supposed entity for Newpipe support.
Yall keep doing you.
