Allow to manually refresh remote playlist contents #8975
Comments
If you know that there is a new video in a playlist (as in, YT shows the playlist having the latest video), close the app by swiping away from Recents. Then when you open the app from scratch and go to your playlist tab, you'll still see the old playlist number. But when you open the remote playlist, it should automatically show the latest videos. When you go back to the playlists tab, you'll notice the number gets updated, too. |
I know it might be an edge case but my Huawei P40 Lite E doesn't let me close apps manually, it just refuses to do most of the time... |
Are you saying you don't have a Recent Apps screen? |
No I am saying I have one but closing apps over it doesnt do anything even when you use the button for closing all and it shows "No recent apps" output.mp4 |
Just to be sure, if it successfully closes Newpipe, your What's New thumbnails should load again. If it can't close Newpipe, those thumbnails should stay loaded from previously opening the app. |
Yeah they stay loaded, with scrolling position and everything |
+1. while killing the app and reopening works, a pull to refresh or a refresh button would be nice. |

Feature description
Allow refreshing a remote playlist at any time manually to fetch current videos in it (e.g. by dragging down in the playlist itself like you do for the subscriptions page as well)
Why do you want this feature?
I import music playlist urls from youtube so i can listen to them in newpipe and adding a new song to the youtube playlist takes ages to appear in the newpipe one.
This issue from 2019 was closed by the author because they were fine with either deleting metadata everytime to force a refresh or just waiting "a night" but that seems like a bad workaround.
Additional information
If there is an already existing normal way to do this I apologize but I feel like i looked thoroughly in the app and couldnt find anything other than "delete metadata", "wait" or "delete and reimport playlist".
I'm also on 0.23.3 if that matters
