[Feature Request] Login To PeerTube #2929
Comments
Why do you think it's better not giving the login ability to Youtube? |
@FinixFighter from the FAQ:
|
Login to YouTube or Google account will not be implemented in NewPipe:
edit: I'm slow oof |
thank you for the answers :) |
@B0pol I wasn't requesting Youtube login, but instead login to Peertube. Or was this reply not meant for me? |
It was meant to @FinixFighter. |
I prefer to think you are asking in jest to trust the largest purveyor of online privacy rape. |

I am a supporter of PeerTube, but it should be noted that individual instances cannot be assumed to be good actors. A review of the top 10 most popular instances a few months ago showed three had ad trackers in use. I have not used Thorium yet, but it is a dedicated PeerTube app which does allow users to login to PeerTube instances. Maybe contributors who want to improve PeerTube on mobile can assist that project. |
as with all Fediverse instances, but you have the OPTION to not use them. That's the real power. Do we have any word on where we stand on introducing logging into PeerTube through Newpipe though? Is it planned within next one or two NP versions? Or kinda far away still? |
I would like an optional feature to be able to login to any or multiple peertube instances and be able to get my video subscription feed, subscribe to channels, create playlists, like videos and comment on videos within NewPipe. I would also like an optional login to multiple invidious accounts from any invidious instance. |

Anyone not interested in being tracked by Google already has de-Googled their life like I have. Saying that, I have a YouTube account because MANY of the videos I watch are not publicly available and require subscription. If you want to provide so-called "non-tracking" (if you don't have a VPN don't fool yourself; I've gotten ads purely based on sharing an IP. Fact.) you should have an option to turn it off and login so you can access subscribed media. As YouTube inevitably cracks down more and more on videos and streams which offend Silicon Valley a-holes, more and more videos aren't available for public search (which Google crippled anyway, so why even bother). |
any progress? |
@muznyo Seems like this feature is out of main priorities of the team. But if you want, you can cotribute a pull request implementing that feature yourself! |
The ability to login to PeerTube instances would be great.
I can understand not giving users login ability to YouTube, but I think the ability to login to our PeerTube instances would be a nice feature.
