Precursor gates not working even after ion cube is inserted

Describe the issue.

Put an ion cube into the gate, and it took it and then the gate did not activate and I could not put another ion cube in to start the gate

Describe the steps you took to encounter the bug.

Was on mountain island and just finished the sunbeam event, went up the mountain to the precursor gate, put in an ion cube and the gate did not start and would not take any more ion cubes
