For instructions on how to install a mod for Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion, please see these instructions on Steam.
There are two methods for downloading the development build of Stargate Invasion.
Download the full mod and stay up to date with regular synchronization. This method requires more hard drive storage than the archive download.
- Identify your Sins of a Solar Empire mod folder (see these instructions). If you have an existing folder for SGI, delete the old mod.
- Download and install GitHub Desktop or use an alternative Git application. Restart your web browser.
- Navigate to the SGI code repository in your web browser and click the green "Clone or Download" button and select "Open to Desktop". This will launch your GitHub Desktop application.
- Set the location of the local repository to the Sins of a Solar Empire mod folder (i.e. "
...\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.85\SGI
"). - Make sure your mod folder is not double nested (i.e "
\SGI\SGI\
") (this is the cause of most Sins mod install issues). - Start Sins of a Solar Empire and utilize the Options / Mods menu to enable SGI. Alternatively, replace the EnableMods.txt in the Sins mod folder with the one included with the SGI mod (verify the mod directory name in the EnableMods.txt).
- Before starting a new SGI game, open the GitHub Desktop application and synchronize (or fetch) to get the latest code.
Download the full mod without synchronization. Updating the mod requires another full download and installation, but it uses less hard drive storage.
- Identify your Sins of a Solar Empire mod folder (see these instructions). If you have an existing folder for SGI, delete the old mod.
- Download the SGI mod Archive (zip) from our code repository.
- Extract the contents of the archive into the Sins of a Solar Empire mod folder (i.e. "
...\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.85\SGI
