Apriltags are a standard created at the University of Michigan. The FIRST Robotics Competition will replace the retroreflective tape found in every field since 2011 with these tags. AprilTags more easily allow robots to determine their location based on a single image and do not require the same bright green lights as the old tape did.
The tags are also much more accessible as they can be printed on any 2d printer.
