Everfree Forest Biome #138
Comments
I personally would prefer a new biome over messing with vanilla biomes |
Sure, but that takes a lot of time and effort, and can reduce compatibility. I also feel it makes very little sense to add a whole new biome for a location that doesn't really have that many dissimilarities from a pre-existing biome? Everfree trees look exactly like dark forest trees, it already has a spooky abandoned structure (like the castle of the two sisters) that spawns there, mobs already appear at a higher rate there and they have a higher chance of pillagers with the mansion in mind, etc. If you added the Everfree as a new biome it would just be... Well, another Dark Forest but more pony-centric. It would invalidate one or the other, and they'd be kinda fighting each other for the same spotlight. However, if you add Everfree things to the dark forest, then you're enhancing it, and adding new use and life to it! |
I personally would prefer a sub variant of the dark forest biome called for example magicaldarkforrest |
a sub-variant wouldn't be bad! if it was a whole new separate biome that'd feel unnecessary, but a sub-variant where they build on the dark forest with everfree additions sounds great. |
It'd also be cool to have the Castle of the Two Sisters as a rare structure, but that'd be complicated. You could probably pull it from the old brohoof server world though. |
I'd love to see that as a rare structure that you could loot spells off of! You could potentially use it to summon Nightmare Moon as a boss as well. |
It'd be interesting to see the Everfree creatures, such as timberwolves, manticores, Ursas, parasprites, and cockatrices, implemented as mobs that spawn in the Dark Forest biome, which could also naturally spawn zap apple trees and other future Everfree plants/items if they don't already (I don't know much about the zap apple trees in this mod) as an easier alternative to making a whole new Everfree biome.
It would suit its already dangerous reputation with low-light mob spawning and woodland mansions. It would also just be REALLY fun and add a little extra challenge to use our species skills against, especially as a barrier to collecting zap apples and their seeds.
