Luck proc on level up will exceed Lapis cap

I've built out a hammer to help with mining, and was in the process of finding more lapis to get the lapis enchant to 450.

The weaponed leveled up, and with lapis at 412, I got +100 lapis (figures), but it pushed me over the cap to 512, but my lapis cap didn't increase to 450 as I would expect it.

As this is going to be an issue if someone on my server encounters this, is there a way to tweak the server data files and set lapis to 450 and grant the weapon a free modifier? That would be an acceptable workaround for this issue until a fix can be implemented.
