Overview

  • We encourage you to share your thoughts regarding how to utilize Home Assistant and our products to come up with interesting ideas.
  • You can just leave it by the comments below.
  • Whether you have a "solution-based" prototype, a deployable resolution, or just an interesting project idea, we want to hear from you.
  • Your input is valuable to us and can help shape the direction of our platform. So, don't hesitate to share your ideas and let us know what's in your mind.

We can work together!

  • We will discuss the ideas here and come up with the valuable ones in practical application.
  • The maintainer will create an assignment and assign the presenter as the only one to complete the task.
  • We will determine the assignment level based on the objective situation and in consultation with the presenter.

What do we offer?

We want to express our gratitude to our contributors by offering a range of rewards. Depending on the difficulties(Tier 0/1/2/3), the time we expect(Days 1/3/7/15), the actual submission time and the actual submission contents, we will offer different levels of rewards.

  1. We will provide our products or cash bonus to our contributors as a token of appreciation.
  2. For those contributors who join our "Ranger Program"(announced soon), we offer even more exciting rewards, including access to our prototype products.
  3. In addition, all contributors and their contributions will be acknowledged and showcased on our wiki platform.

FAQ

  • For any question, the contributor can directly commend here.

I think I can complete the assignment, but I need more time?

  • The timeframe here is based on our old experience, from people who has done it or something like that.
  • However, many projects will take much more time under actual circumstances (including the main language of the contributors receiving the task and the actual creative difficulty)
  • You can leave the time you need and a brief reason, we will evaluate the situation accordingly.

Matthew, once HomeAssistant Green gets here, I'm thinking about redoing my home alarm with it. To do this, I must use some XIAO ESP32_C3 with deep sleep and reed switches to replace the current system, which works via radio and 12v batteries. I haven't figured out how to do it yet, but I'm thinking about also creating a password and RFID card system to grant access.

One of the huge topics for Homeassistant is the easier integration of LoRaWAN Sensors and the needed dashboards.

In our daily work we noticed, that clients are obviously only problem focussed and often dont care deeply for how data gets into an application. Meaning, that the whole setup for LoRaWAN Sensors will need to get even easier with less and less steps to accomodate more people embracing it as a technology.

If I could get two or three XIAO ESP32S3 for Meshtastic & LoRa Kits plus antennas, than I could try and connect Home Assistant with Meshtastic. Then, you could view the mesh's messages on Home Assistant. Also with it connected to HA, you unlock so much data. My project idea is that one Meshtastic XIAO would connect to the HA server and people in the mesh could send messages to Home Assistant's Assist and receive a response. This would be great for kids, for places with poor cellular coverage, or just as a cool project.

This would also work great if I could get a SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E and a Wio Tracker 1110 Dev Kit for Meshtastic. With the SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E, you could have applications like notifying parents when a child reaches school or tracking pets from the Home Assistant app.

One more idea, when interfaced with the sensecap watcher, you could place the watcher anywhere in lora range with an offline model running and get alerts for all Meshtastic and home Assistant users.

I found some more info regarding my previous comment. Metastatic does support tons of Meshtastic features in Home Assistant. This means that everything I said before will work really well and be easy for others to copy. There is a warning, however, that NRF devices are not supported. I think that only means that a NRF device will not connect directly to HA, but you can still receive messages from those devices through the mesh.
