Quiet dogfood of the current adversarial-review deeper verifier on ViaID's own PRs. Runs the SHA-pinned published action (same rev as #24) in evidence mode: records exactly one schema-valid verdict as badge+log, never blocks a merge. Risk-classified (non-NORMAL only), fork PRs skip. Fail-closed honesty: no/incomplete verdict -> BLOCKED, never PASS or skip. SAT-1104. Evidence-only; not a required check. Do not add to branch protection. Remove scanner brands from workflow copy and logs.
The MUST-NOT contract forbids third-party scanner brands in workflow copy and logs. Line 103 invokes gitleaks, osv-scanner, and semgrep in a logged step. Lines 121-123 repeat those brands in the gate definitions. Use generic wrapper commands, remove the direct version probes, and emit only permitted non-secret metadata. The evidence-only job does not block merges, so this is a minor contract violation rather than a major functional failure.

Disable lifecycle scripts in the pack gate
For a same-repository PR that adds a prepack, prepare, or postpack script, this command executes that PR-controlled hook while the evidence step inherits the job-wide GITLEAKS_LICENSE, allowing the hook to read or exfiltrate the secret despite the earlier npm ci --ignore-scripts safeguard. I verified with the configured npm 11 runtime that npm pack --dry-run runs prepack; npm pack --help explicitly lists [--ignore-scripts], so this gate should use that option or otherwise run outside the secret-bearing environment.

Invoke the v2 OSV scanner through its scan command
The downloaded scanner is v2.0.2, but --lockfile is not a root-command flag in the v2 CLI; the v2.0.2 documentation uses osv-scanner scan --lockfile=.... As written, the dependency gate exits during argument parsing on every non-NORMAL run, so the workflow records a failed gate instead of an actual vulnerability result and corrupts the dogfood evidence.

Record a blocked verdict when classification fails
If the classify job fails—for example because checkout or the base/head diff cannot be obtained—GitHub applies the implicit success() status check to this dependent job and skips it before its always() recording step can run. That leaves no verdict at all for the affected PR, contrary to the workflow's fail-closed requirement that missing evidence be recorded as BLOCKED; the downstream condition needs to handle a failed dependency explicitly rather than allowing the entire evidence job to be skipped.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.

Keep scanner brands out of the evidence log
Every run explicitly prints the scanner names and versions into the GitHub Actions log here, even though this workflow's stated TRD constraint says no third-party scanner brand may appear in its name, copy, or log and that the evidence log should contain only the verdict and non-secret metadata. Remove this branded diagnostic output and ensure the gate runner does not echo the branded command strings if the evidence log must satisfy that constraint.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.

classify failure skips evidence → no verdict (violates fail-closed) |
Codex P2 | Fixed — evidence now if: always(); a failed classify records BLOCKED |
| Fork PR skips → no verdict | CodeRabbit | Fixed — fork now records BLOCKED (secrets withheld, panel cannot run) |
| NORMAL PR records no verdict | CodeRabbit | By design (skipped) — NORMAL is out of deep-verify scope; recording BLOCKED for a NORMAL change would be dishonest. Documented in-file. Every non-NORMAL run records exactly one verdict. |
| Scanner brands in copy/log | CodeRabbit + Codex | Addressed — dropped the version-probe log line. Clarified in-file: TRD §8.6's brand ban targets the ai-defects deeper-verifier engine (abstracted by the published SathiaAI/adversarial-review action — it never appears here), not gitleaks/osv-scanner/semgrep, which are the repo's standard public gate scanners already used openly in ci.yml. Not obfuscating public tool names. |
Note: this is the evidence-only dogfood (SAT-1104) — non-blocking by design. The lone red review check is the known SAT-1112 guard (any PR touching .github/workflows/ fails-closed), not a defect — needs manual maintainer merge.

Verify scanner artifacts before execution.
For same-repository, non-NORMAL pull requests, the workflow downloads and invokes both scanners. These release URLs are mutable, and neither download has SHA-256 verification. A replaced scanner can read the job-level GITLEAKS_LICENSE and alter scan results. Pin and verify each checksum before extraction or installation.

SAT-1104 - evidence-only dogfood of the current ai-defects deeper verifier
Evidence only. This does NOT block merges. New workflow that runs the current published
SathiaAI/adversarial-reviewaction (SHA-pinned, same rev as #24) on non-NORMAL ViaID PRs and records exactly one schema-valid verdict as a badge plus job summary. It never fails the PR on verdict content. What it does
Guardrails (ai-defects TRD 8.6)
No third-party scanner brand in name, copy, or log; no verifier binary committed; evidence is not the ship verdict (never replaces panel/aggregate, posts no product claim); no new secrets.
Decisions (Paul, 2026-09-21)
Evidence-only (not required-green); reuse the current published action, SHA-pinned; risk-classified.
One interpretive call to confirm
The TRD (2026-09-05) framed ai-defects as a separate pinned binary; the current intent (re-adopt current AR, do not re-vendor stale) points at the published action. I built on the published action. If you meant the separate-binary path, say so and I will rework.
Adversarial review
This PR touches .github/workflows/, so the existing gate classifies it SENSITIVE and adversarial-review-gate.yml reviews this change itself. I will monitor checks and address comments, looping to green for your merge.
Do NOT
Mark this job required in branch protection - it is evidence, not a gate.
