It's Here! The first Alpha for Oh The Biomes We've Gone is here.. and it is jam-packed with some exciting new features for players to try out! We also will be sending out a feedback form for testers to fill out so we can catch early bugs and your feedback! Just a reminder you do need to be a paid patron to access this Alpha build. You can become a patron at 'patreon.com/biomesyougo'
The goal of this Alpha is for players to test out our new features and give feedback on them and bug reporting.
Some things to know for this Alpha:
-There are no saplings
-We've given you access to a handful of BWG's blocks however not all of them are obtainable via survival so they are just for your creative pleasure for now.
-Not all of BWG's biomes are in this alpha but by release, we will have them all (excluding nether & end)
-A lot of our features are WIP so they might be buggy or not fully finished
-Rugged Badlands & Atacama desert is missing Quicksand patches, these will be added in our next alpha
-The Oddion currently does not poop out Oddion Bulbs yet this will be added in our next alpha

IRONWOOD GOUR - NEW BIOME

The 'Ironwood Gour' is one of two new biomes we are introducing in BWG. This is a Savanna-like biome with a unique twist, giant natural gours spawn creating a unique multilayered biome. We wanted to give the players something exciting and fresh in their worlds. We have a few other concepts we are exploring for this biome to further spice it up so the current version is not the final! This biome also adds back the long-lost Ironwood Trees & Woodtype, a unique silvery color pallet that is a great transition from White Mangrove to Maple. I personally was so excited to reimagine this wood type since it has been in the vault for years, older BYG fans will hopefully get a nostalgia from this!
NOTES: Currently in normal worlds the Gours can sometimes not spawn if the biome is too small, we are currently looking at ways to incorporate smaller gours into these microbiomes so that players don't get biomes without them!
RUGGED BADLANDS - NEW BIOME

We are so excited to introduce this brand new desert biome, the 'Rugged Badlands' We teased the spike features a while back and they are finally ready for you all to see in-game! This unique desert biome will provide natural challenges with Quicksand patches so you better watch your feet. Players can also find large above-ground fossils possibly from beasts that once roamed the land long ago.
NOTES: Currently, we are looking at increasing the spawn rate of the spikes as we think they might be too rare at the moment, we also couldn't get the quicksand patches to generate or the fossils but these will be available in the next alpha!
ALLIUM SHRUBLANDS - BIOME REWORK

The Allium Shrublands is the first of many old BYG biomes to receive overhauls. We wanted to bring some fresh new features to this previously passive fields biome. We've added a brand new wood type 'Florous' which is a very vibrant and plant-like green color pallet. This wood type will be used in a lot of different ways since it can be applied to any "large magical plant". We've also added white alliums as a new flower variety and our beloved new mob, the Oddion who can be found laying dormant in the grounds of this biome until players walk up to them. We hope this excites players for what is to come to many of our older biomes as we have so many more revamps planned.
MOBS
We've readded all of BYG's previous mobs and added a new one!

ODDION - NEW MOB

Meet our newest mob, the Oddion! Is he an onion? We aren't quite sure, but he sure is odd..
The Oddion is a passive mob that will spawn commonly in groups of 1-3 starting in a buried state. Approaching a buried oddion will cause them to sprout up as seen in the gifs above and allow you to interact with them. They'll waddle around and follow the player if they have bonemeal in their hand. However, if the player hurts or walks away from the Oddion it will bury itself back into the ground. Oddions drop a single oddion bulb, occasional allium flower, and some xp when killed.
The oddion on occasion will poop out Oddion Bulbs for the player to collect (similar to chicken) what can the player do with these?

Oddions come with an array of delicacies, you can plant an oddion bulb and grow your own oddion crops.
If the player bonemeals the Oddion Crop at its final stage, a sound and particle event will trigger a "hatching" phase and within a few minutes an Oddion Mob will pop out of the ground!
NOTE: -Oddions cannot be bred so the only way to obtain more is via growing them.
NOTE: -In this Alpha Oddion will not poop out Oddion Bulbs, we will have this in by the next alpha!
-Oddion Bulbs can be cooked and also turned into Allium Oddion Soup and also a Blooming Oddion dish.
-Oddions also love to dance, play a record near them and watch them party!
NOTES: We hope players enjoy this adorable new passive mob, the Oddion bridges a unique gap functioning as a mob and also an interactive crop. We also hope to add more utility uses for the Oddion and his items so suggestions are definitely welcome!
FINAL NOTES
We've added a ton of blocks back and we don't have the time to list them all, please feel free to play around with them all and make sure they are all working properly! A huge shoutout to everyone involved in PotionStudios, our incredible team is dedicated to creating an experience like no other with BWG and we hope you all find this journey as incredible as we do!
