Setup Instuctions

  • Extract the RomFS of the game. Put this somewhere safe on your PC where you will not lose it!

    • Emulator: Right-click the game and select Extract Data -> RomFS
    • Switch: Dump keys by injecting Lockpick_RCM.bin just as you would with Hekate while in recovery mode. Follow the on-screen instructions to dump keys from sysnand. Afterwards, use nxdumptool:
      • Download nxdt_rw_poc.nro and put it in the /switch folder on your SD card
      • Launch nxdumptool from the switch homebrew menu
      • user titles menu -> The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
      • nca / nca fs dump options -> dump base application -> Program #0 -> FS section #2: RomFS -> start nca fs section dump
      • The RomFS are now on your SD card at nxdt_rw_poc/NCA FS/User/Extracted/The Legend of Zelda_Lin.../Program #0 /1

  • Launch the randomizer PC app. The latest stable release can be found here

  • For the RomFS Path, click the Browse button and navigate to where you put the extracted RomFS from earlier

  • For the Output Folder, click the Browse button and navigate to where you want the mod files to go. If playing on emulator, you can simply just set the path to the mods folder, found by right-clicking the game and selecting Open Mods Directory

    • Note: DO NOT select the RomFS folder as the Output Folder. It will overwrite important files!!!

  • For the seed, you can either leave it blank, click New Seed, or manually type something in. It is limited to 50 characters

  • Under Main Settings -> Output Settings, select the platform you are playing on

  • Go through all the different settings to see what you might want to play with. The default settings are good for beginners

  • Click the Randomizer button in the bottom-right to generate the mod files. These will of course be found where you set the Output Path

  • Play the randomizer!

    • Emulator: Make sure the modified files are in the mods folder, and then enable the mod. You MUST play on v1.0.0 without the update installed, until this is resolved
    • Switch: Copy and paste the atmosphere folder to the root of your SD card. You MUST clear out any old mod files first. The randomizer will output a different number of files depending on the settings
