How to upgrade with composer?

I noted that only composer updates are supported now. on the last update I did I downloaded the zip, extracted it , repackaged it , reuploaded it and extracted again.

It worked , but its a bit clunky!

Is there a guide on how to use composer to upgrade?

I have to admit that is a lot of space to improve ... ☝️

It has already been mentioned here that we need a simple composer setup ....

To upgrade via composer ...

• install OM via composer
• make sure you have no core changes in your code
• add your extension files (best ... make them composer-ready)

For local tests please follow docs or DDEV quickstart.

I am running PHP8.4.3 on the latest OpenMage release.

Ill just work out how to use composer going forwards I guess for all updates.

When installed OM via composer (not git cloned that repo) you can run composer update openmage/magento-lts gfor the latest release, or composer require openmage/magento-lts:dev-main for latest commit.
