Preferred way to record background spectra #7

Steven, honestly, I don't see a way to do what you wanna do without exporting both the (net) spectrum and the background spectrum together. At least if I understand your problem correctly. You're exporting only one spectrum at the moment, right? No way in reversing that without having the background at hand too, so I guess there is really no good way around exporting both spectra. You can export the net spectrum and the background together and then add them both up to get the gross spectrum back. Or you just export the the gross spectrum and the background without subtracting them. Doesn't really matter, so choose the one that looks better for your website. Matthias |

Matthias,
Impulse is progressing nicely and the publish function is now working well, however some users are asking me if it is possible to publish background subtracted spectra.
Of course I can easily subtract the background and publish the net result, but this is not reversible ....
Alternatively I could export a compound spectrum with source and background spectra together in one file, but this would require quite a bit of code changes.
What are your thoughts on this?
Steven
