Milkdrop2 still has a Desktop Mode feature.
Pressing ALT + D will go to Desktop Mode (plus showing the icon on taskbar). Hovering the icon on taskbar will show "BeatDrop - Double click to exit desktop mode". Double clicking it will exit the desktop mode.
