Email Attachment

Does anyone know how to include an attachment when it's a base64 encoded object vs. a file on disk?

For example...

with open(path, "rb") as attachment:
    attachment = base64.b64encode(attachment.read())

How would I include this attachment object in an email?

I saw a previous discussion/thread where it leveraged an Attachment object, but I'm not seeing anything in the documentation about that or anyting close to it. Think I'm just missing something obvious. Thanks for the help!
