Supporting the scope and deployment of MS Fabric beyond PowerBI utilisation

Initial Scope

Request to support SWL in the expanded use of PowerBI services to include wider Fabric Services.
The team want to be able to do more local data engineering tasks, build scalable pipelines to transform data quickly adopting python, spark, SQL using modern technologies to apply this.

Objectives

• To remove some pressure on the PowerBI DataFlows service
• To undertake event triggered activities
• To be able to experiment and apply ML models

Data and Analytics Shared Services review:

There are multiple layers that this could conceivably cover. However the minumum would be

• Develop further knowledge on the setup and segregation of enviornments
• Purchase and pass through Fabric Capacity
• Allocate to dedicated workspaces
• Keep on top of product developments
• Review cometing capacity
• ? Provide 1st, 2nd and third line support ?

There could be large implications on the Fabric Delivery Model and assumes that the data is 'Mirrored' or 'Piped' from a Snowflake Share (as separate arrangements).

This doesn't include any Pass Through Costed Fabric Consumption
