The Ledger API expects the caller to provide a derivation path. Currently if you use a Ledger with MEW the derivation path is automatically provided and not displayed anywhere. It would be nice if there was an option for choosing a derivation path similar to when you load a wallet via mnemonic. At the least, MEW should display the derivation path that was used to the end-user.

v3.6.6 now gives you the ability to use any path you chose on any chain you chose with your Ledger and TREZOR (and of course, you can also do the above + any word-count via mnemonic phrase option)
