Mobiflight Connector BETA version installation
MobiFlight BETA versions contain new features that are planned to be part of MobiFlight with the next official release. It is very valuable to receive early feedback from the community on these new features. Bugs are discovered and reported, and feedback leads to an improved version of the new feature.
Note
BETA versions are less tested, and less stable and may contain bugs. Sometimes there might be a breaking change which makes it hard to roll back to the stable. Generally such issues are addressed very quickly by the development process.
Tip
It is recommended to always make a backup of your configs (.mmc) and device configs (.mfmc) which will make sure that you can successfully go back to the stable release, see instructions
If you are interested in helping to improve MobiFlight, or if you are experiencing a bug that is already fixed in a BETA release, then do the following simple steps to enable BETA updates:
If you don't manually check, next time MobiFlight is going to start will check for the latest BETA version automatically. Just like the normal automated update process.
There is no built-in way to roll back to the stable version of MobiFlight. You have to do it manually but it is rather simple:
-
Close MobiFlight in case it is running
-
Open a file explorer
-
Use
%APPDATA%\..\Local\MobiFlight\MobiFlight Connector
as path You are now in the installation location of MobiFlight Connector -
Unzip the zip file with the version of the official release. Example: if the latest stable release is
9.7.1
then look for the zip fileMobiFlightConnector-9.7.1.zip
Make sure to extract to the same folder, and simply overwrite all existing files.
-
Restart MobiFlight
-
Ignore the auto-update message that a new Beta is available
-
Open
Settings
and disableI would like to receive Beta version updates
Now you are back to the latest stable.
Tip
A beta version can contain new firmware and might contain changes (e.g., config structure) that when rolling back cannot be handled properly. Make sure to backup your configs regulary, this will help when going back from a beta.
