I tried to boot with the 3A image because the boards are somehow similar,
but didnt come up for me...

Many thanks for your request. I guess, similar to ROCK 5A vs ROCK 5B, a different bootloader build is needed. But ROCK 3C is not yet supported by Armbian, so we have no consistent bootloader distribution.

I am also a little surprised/confused if it works, at least as long as no SPI bootloader is used. Does it have an SPI flash?

Maybe much from the ROCK 3A device tree can be taken, though its a different SoC (ROCK 3A uses RK3568, ROCK 3C uses RK3566): https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/tree/arch/arm64/boot/dts/rockchip/rk3568-rock-3a.dts

Not sure how well this can be ported to mainline Linux, e.g. v6.6.

This confirms that it is very similar and works with the Quartz64B device tree.

Armbian have published images for the Rock 3c, see eg here.

Does that mean that you will be in a position to progress? Please note that wifi/bluetooth does not seem to work in the Armbian build for version 1.4 of the board, would be great if this could be addressed if you spend time on development.

In general yes. But since we recently added a bunch of new SBCs which also do not work perfectly fine yet, I will at least try to debug and invest some time into them first.
