This is working almost perfect together with oversteer. Just missing the new boost option we have in windows profiler. Will it be possible to implement boost on linux? It makes the wheel ffb behave much better. Thanks for your excellent job on this!

Assuming that's all it does, then yeah, it should be fairly easy to implement. Not sure if there's something like it in Oversteer already, but adding a tickbox somewhere shouldn't be too hard. I'll see when I have the time to look into this in more detail, but not for a couple of days at least, unfortunately.

I only drive Assetto Corsa Formula One Ferrari 2004 car and with Boost active i have to low down the car ffb in game so i dont get clipping. The final result is that the wheel feels much lighter in low speed and gets realisticly stronger when down forces apply. It just feels right. It feels like having a proper power steering working. I dont use it to have a stronger ffb, it actually feels much lighter. Without boost i have to increase ffb in game so i can feel the car when turning but that makes it also stronger on straights to the point that it will imediatly starts bouncing if i take my hands off the wheel. Its not realistic at all and its like driving a F1 car without power steering. Itś kind of hard to explain technically why this happens (dont have the knowledge) but having boost with a lower ffb in game it just feels right.

This doesn't make much sense. Increasing the gain makes the wheel feel lighter? What you're describing here seems complex, and very likely only related to the internals of the game which we can't control, and perhaps your subjective impressions. Anyway, I didn't pretend to judge you, I just stated an objective fact and the reason every wheel isn't doing it OOB. If it feels good to you then it's good.

Dont remember exactly how much i had without boost but it was much higher. I didnt feel judged by your comment :) Just trying to explain why id love boost to be implemented. A lot of people seem not to understand the benefits of it on Assetto Corsa (dont know about other games).

And i think its a very good idea to have separate gains for each effect type so we can fine tunning the "boost" ;)

The resulting gain from that configuration would be 29% in case both gains were linear, but in any case, you're taking away what you gave. Setting 29% in Oversteer and 100% in the game should give the same result, and also with 100% in Oversteer and 29% in the game. There are countless variations that should give the same result. If that's not the case then there's something weird going on with the gain calculations, either in the driver or in the game. Maybe it's the fact that the boost affects only the constant and spring effects, most probably. This could be some sort of confirmation that it isn't a global gain boost.

Im trying to quit windows my self and having AC working properly in Linux its one of the few requirements i steel need to work on :)

I dont know how AC FFB or Thrustmaster boost is implemented internally except for what i read in forums and blogs. My guess is AC FFB was implemented in way you must have a wheel with high torques able to replicate a real car steering. The T300RS have only around 5nm wich is pretty low compared to the most recent DD Wheels with 20nm. But maybe thats why AC simracers are buying them.

I have been driving AC since beta version and there is a real big difference having 29% without boost and 14.5% with boost (in both the general game gain is at 200%). The difference is big and real and its just not my own perception. I dont think boost can increase torque but somehow makes it work stronger. I guess the only way to be sure if there is something more in Thrustmaster boost then just duplicated forces is trying it out.

I always have spring, periodic and damp forces at 0% and AC doesnt use spring and periodic so the difference cant be on that.

Right now im only running AC on windows but when you guys implement boost i will re-install on Linux and test it so i can report the differences to you. I believe that just by duplicating gain on driver will make it right but there is nothing like trying it.

I also have moded my wheel with a stronger power supply when the original broke out many years ago ... dont know if that makes any difference on this topic. Any info you guys need i will be happy to report.

Right, I finally got around to adding the boost parameter, see the boost branch. Sorry about the delay, I frankly forgot about this for a while.

I named the parameter boost_constant, it can be found in /sys/module/hid_tmff_new/drivers/hid:tmff2/XXXX:044F:B696:YYYY/boost_constant. I made it be an additional scalar on top of the gain attribute, so the user can specify how much boost to apply. echo 0 > sudo tee /the/long/path/above means the effect is zeroed, echo 100 ... is 1x, 200 is 2x (and should match the boost option on Windows) etc. Should be enough to start testing with at least, I'm sure we can discuss naming and other details for what Oversteer might expect at some point as well.
